While planning things we wanted to do in Canada during our stay we came across the spectacular Myra Canyon Trestle Bridges on the outskirts of the city of Kelowna. With Kelowna being a two and a half hour drive from where we were staying with family, we opted for an overnight stay in the city. When discussing the plans with a family friend staying in Kelowna came with two recommendations, firstly a trip to a shop called Bulk Barn, which is basically a giant pick 'n' mix shop for everything you could think, and secondly to have a meal at Tokyo 1.

When looking into the menu for Tokyo 1 I saw two phrases that definitely belong together "Japanese cuisine" and "all you can eat" and the only thought in my mind was "Challenge accepted".

Having made sure I had my belt on a slightly looser notch than normal we jumped into the car and headed for Tokyo 1. We were quickly escorted to a raised table overlooking the rest of the restaurant and the kitchen in the distance with the chefs preparing sushi.

Ordering at Toyko 1 is done via a tablet with many options available but with a limit system in place per order to prevent wastage. In reality this order limit for each round helps you pace yourself as you are constantly served a selection of small plates as soon as they are prepared rather than being over faced with a mountain of food, which can be an issue buffet style all you can eat restaurants, as my eyes tend to be bigger than my belly.

Playing it slightly safe to start with we order a variety of sushi with the typical salmon, cucumber and prawn options to ensure all three of us had enough that the liked. Then I gained control of the tablet and ordered something a little more unusual, I opted for just a single portion of the octopus sushi as this was something I had never tried before. While this was a little chewy it was still tasty, however it is probably something I wouldn't order again.

Having consumed our body weight in sushi and other Japanese specialities we had just enough room to finish the meal off with a little bit of ice-cream which was included in the price. While myself and Kristal opted for the more grown up option of a caramel flavour ice-cream my mum went for the very vibrant cotton candy flavour.
