When my mum found an article about the community of Crawford Bay in a tourist magazine boasting about the areas links to the arts and culture we decided to plan an overnight trip to the area linking it with a trip we had planned to Ainsworth Hot Springs.
So after a two hour drive and a ferry trip across Kootenay Lake we were surprised to find only a handful of arts and crafts shops and the Black Salt Café. Sitting in the outdoor section of the café there was a very nice feel to this establishment and noticing the staff bringing out some very nicely presented food to the tables nearby, I could not wait to tuck in.
As we had an afternoon swim planned none of us wanted a massive meal so all opted for various different sandwiches with a portion of fries to share.

My sandwich of choice was a pastrami sandwich which required a knife and fork to tuck into and there was far to much pastrami to be able to get even my mouth around. The bread was soft and the meat melted in your mouth. So I was more than happy with my choice.

Kristal went for a more unusual choice of tempura salmon in a beetroot wrap. Which not only stood out on the plate, but I'm also reliably informed tasted delicious.

While my mum opted for a ham salad croissant, which again apparently tasted as good as it looked. The fries we shared were also very tasty with plenty to go around. Despite being a little disappointed at what the town of Crawford Bay had to offer, all three of us would recommend calling into the Black Salt Café if you are nearby.
