Although not technically in Canada or a traditional Canadian cuisine. The next stop on our Canadian food trip took us across the board in the the USA for Mexican food. While we did get a slightly odd look from the boarder official when our response to the question "Why are you coming into the United States of America?" was "We are going to Walmart and then for lunch" it was well worth the short hop across the board.

Having not really sampled much Mexican food back home, other than home made enchiladas I wasn't too sure what to expect. We started off with a starter if tortilla chips with various dips including salsa, guacamole and sour cream, however these were freshly prepared tortilla chips, a world away from the premade style you'd find served to you in the UK.

For the main course both Kristal and I ordered the seafood enchiladas. A dish that may not look very pretty on the plate, but definitely got the taste buds excited. Served with rice and refried beans this was an exciting glimpse into the world of Mexican cuisine.

Having not actually ordered a desert it was a very nice surprise when one appeared at the table, a sweet version of the earlier tortilla chips topped with cream and a strawberry sauce. A simple but very tasty way to end our meal.

One unusual thing that we noticed when paying for our meal was how different card payments are in America. Actually having to sign for the payment rather that using the my pin number felt slightly odd and for a minute I actually thought my card was broken or blocked.
